new blog, first review mini [Dead Rising 2]

Hey guys, and welcome to my brand new blog [Game Shrew]! This blog is going to focus on reviews of games for the PC, XBOX360, and PS3. Although i intend to review newer games, you can expect to see older game reviews pop up from time to time.

To start off, i am going to write a "review mini" of "Dead Rising 2".

Dead Rising 2 Review Mini

Alot of people enjoyed "Dead Rising" for the xbox360 when it was released, and i was one of them. However, the game had a lot of flaws, and most of them were so crippling that i actually couldn't complete the game. Some of these flaws were an incompatibility with SD tv's with text so small you couldn't even read it, a beeping walkie talkie that was so annoying that you literally felt the need to mute the game, and a random difficulty curb when bosses were introduced. Naturally, when Dead Rising 2 was announced, i was convincing myself that they would fix these issues. I was disappointed when i booted the game on my 360.

Although you would expect a developer to fix the common issues with the previous game as they moved on to the sequel, "blue castle games" didn't feel the need to fix any of these prime issues, and instead built [basically] the EXACT same game. While playing Dead Rising 2, i noticed a lot of reused art assets, game mechanics, and even plot devices. You are even still in a mall! So what exactly is new in Dead Rising 2? Not much, unfortunately.

Sure, you now play as a much hunkier "Chuck Green", and you have a cute little daughter who you are trying so heroically to save, but the game is just more of the same in almost every way. The only true thing to look forward to in this new adventure is the execution of combining objects to create ridiculous new ways to slaughter zombies.

If you are looking for more of the same, then Dead Rising 2 is probably what you want. But i find it hard to find anything good to say about this game when it comes  down to it. I can't recommend a purchase.
