[Small Talk] Does 3d add to your experience?

3D has been popular in the past year or so, and it's starting to get incorporated more and more into video games. The question is, how do gamers feel about it?

Do you feel that it adds to the appeal, and would you purchase a game just because of 3d? What's your opinion?

  1. Personally all this 3D stuff is starting to piss me off.. it is often really bad quality and very confusing. Especially fights in films are difficult to watch in 3D, and I would not want to play a FPS in 3D.. not until the technology is improved anyway.

  3. I'm personally hating all this 3D hype. If it is done well, it can lead to a pleasurable experience. However, most companies are making movies (and eventually games I guess) 3D just for the extra money, even if it is poorly done.

  4. 3D has been blown way too out of proportion - having a few games here and there in 3D is a pretty sweet thing, but you can only handle so much of it.

I really think that this whole 3D thing needs to calm down and stop giving everyone mind-numbing headaches.

  5. I'm still undecided on the whole subject, a good film does not need 3D, it does not make a film better.

And the 3D in UK films at the moment is pretty poor, until something really good is released, meh.

  6. I always choose to watch movies at the theaters in regular 2d goodness. 3d in theaters just doesn't work for me... but I've never tried it at home.

  8. I welcome 3d. Waiting for the prices on the 3d enables tv's to go down though.

  9. I personally do not want 3D anything. If I could find my 3D glasses that I got for free around my room, I would check out the picture in your post though.

  10. It games.. I don't like it. I like 2-d.

For films.. I have poor vision due to my optical nerve not maturing correctly. (not possible to correct the vision in my bad eye) So optical illusions and technology such as 3-d simply doesn't register. I can't "see" it.

  17. i think its a cool addition to a game but it definitely wont make the game, same with graphics. i will be purchasing a 3ds because of the price but to buy a 3d tv to play killzone 3 in 3d is retarded imo

  18. 3d is (still) very expensive. Maybe in a few years it'll show it's true potential, but not now

  21. i don't know if 3d would transfer well from huge movie screens to your home tv..

i agree with many posts in that they need to improve the technology. scenes can get pretty confusing at times. i'm very interested see how the technology progresses.

as for 3D games, i do NOT like the idea. shitty games would just use it as a gimmick.

  23. I really sick of movies being made in 3d, the only movie I've seen where the 3d wasn't over the top and felt natural was toy story 3.
